I love to place beautiful flags with positive messages in my garden to hopefully inspire others as well as remind myself to be a more cheerful person. Since we live downtown-in a college town-we have students walking past our home every single day and over the years many have stopped to tell me how much they enjoy our garden. One young woman actually told me that walking by my house and seeing the garden helped relieve the stress she experienced as a college student.
In the beginning, we wanted to garden and nurture wildlife but it has now evolved into so much more. Our garden gives us nutritious food and helps nurture the people who get to see it on their way to somewhere else. Be a light to the world….no matter how small, all efforts count.
I have not harvested any other veg since the collards so no new totals yet but hopefully soon!! This past weekend we purchased three trees that I have been wanting for years-a Chinese snowball, a red bottle brush, and a pineapple guava. I cannot wait to see them bloom and fruit. Hummingbirds love the bottle brush tree for its rich nectar.
I will leave you with a look around the garden. Be a light to the world…in your own way.
